Nora and Dr. Rank exchange some serious words during Act ii. Nora is still very nervous about the whole letter situation. She believes that Rank is the only person that she can trust and could possibly help her. But what she finds out after some exchange words and flirting is that Rank is madly in love with her. He would do anything for her, but that was too much for her. But honestly she brought out his true feelings while flirting with him. Well she finds out that Rank doesn’t have much time left and the end might be near for him. She fails to tell him the situation though after she finds out the breaking news he tells her.


Time is running out for Nora. During the party that Nora and Helmer attend Mrs. Linde and Krogstad have a very intense conversation. We find out while reading that Kristina and Krogstad had a relationship at one point. While having their conversation they come to a decision to get back together. Krogstad is unsure if Mrs. Linde wants to get back with him for her friends sake or is she really in love with him again. Well Mrs. Linde feels that Krogstad should not ask for the letter back she feels that Helmer should find out what Nora has done. Was Mrs. Linde just using Nora to blackmail her or does she really believe that?

Act 1

My thought on a Dolls House when I heard there was going to be a secret was that someone in the relationship wasn’t going to be faithful and honest. I thought that someone in the relationship would be cheating on someone and hiding it behind the other persons back. While reading the play I thought Nora was cheating on Torvald. That was my first thought when she was telling Mrs. Linde about how she got the money to save Torvald’s life.
Torvald doesn’t know anything about how Nora got the money. He believes Nora is bedridden and she can’t do much without any money. Nora is caught in a huge lie between herself and Krogstad. Nora has done an unacceptable thing by forging her father’s signature. Nora is trying to convince herself and Krogstad that what she did isn’t worth getting in trouble for. She believes that the law with have some sorrow on her because she was doing it to save her husband’s life. It’s just like in everyday life people rob banks to save their kids life because they care for them and they don’t want to see them hurt or die. The law isn’t easy on them most of the time. So was this lie really worth the risk? Is possibly ruining your reputation and appearance worth it?

The things I did enjoy were reading A Raisin in the Sun and Lord of the Flies. I really liked reading Lord of the Flies because it was better than my expectations.

Henrik Isben dreamed of being an artist when he was younger. At age 15 Isben’s education was interrupted by poverty and when he was 15 he was apprenticed to a pharmacist in Grimstad. His most important play was The Emperor and the Galilean.
